Finance Commitee

Hello there!

The Finance Committee is not all facts and figures as one might expect. We gather on the third Tuesday of each month at the Centre for Christian Studies. At the beginning of each meeting, we share in a brief time of reflection and check in over a light snack. Then, it's down to business and the business we do is to oversee the finances of CCS.

Finance Committee meetings run for 90 minutes during which time we review the monthly financial statement and attend to a list of tasks set out in our annual General Schedule. The FC meets with RBC Dominion Investment Brokers once or twice each year to: review our investments, offer input from a social justice stance and to ensure that CCS continues to comply with the financial and ethical guidelines set by Central Council.

The Treasurer is a member of Central Council and reports regularly to this body at their regular meetings.

The FC is a small committee with dedicated members who enjoy and appreciate one another's company and the work they attend to on behalf of the wider CCS community. Decisions are made through a democratic process.

Although some members of the FC are trained in accounting, not all members are. If you can balance your personal cheque book, are willing to learn the ropes, and live in Winnipeg or the surrounding area, you, too, could be a member of the FC.

Blessed be!

Juanita MacKinnon-Smith
Treasurer
