Resources
Library Services
We believe the work of CCS is very important to the future of our
church and that the library is an integral part of the learning
that students do. The Centre for Christian Studies' library holdings
consist of 4000 volumes focused in Christian education, social ministry,
pastoral care and diaconal history. The library is staffed by Bunny
Cobb, our volunteer Librarian.
The purpose of the library is to provide on site resources for
CCS staff and to provide reference materials for the students. We
understand as a secondary purpose that we can offer resources which
support a theology of justice to faculty and students of the Winnipeg
Theological Consortium.
To support this purpose, we have joined several other small theological
libraries, such as the Canadian Mennonite University and William
& Catherine Booth College, associated with the University of
Winnipeg in this new venture of library partnership. The U of W
librarian, Mark Leggot, has a vision of a cooperative approach to
making limited resources go further. It is exciting and challenging
to be involved in this vision of sharing resources.
The CCS library is now automated. Patrons can view the catalogue
on line and initiate the book borrowing process from the catalogue
site. Books are mailed out to the student using a special reduced
fee arrangement with Canada Post. During the fall and spring learning
circles held in Winnipeg, the librarian is available in the library
during the student interview evenings to familiarize the students
with the library and to assist them in locating resources.
Students are also encouraged to use the library and inter-library
loan services of the theological school/university in which they
are registered for external courses.

to Use the CCS Library.
