Dr. and Mrs. A.J.W. Myers Scholarship

The Dr. and Mrs. A.J.W. Myers Scholarship is an annual award of up to $600.

Beginning in 1968, Dr. Myers gave five annual gifts of $1000 to set up a scholarship fund, the income from which is to provide an award for Centre graduates to do post graduate work in religious education. Dr. Myers was Professor of Religious Education at Hartford Theological Seminary for many years. He is the author or more than 25 religious, historical, and children's books. He died at the age of 97 in December, 1975.

Award criteria
In determining the recipient of the award, the committee will be using the following criteria:

Applicant demonstrates:

  • on going experience as a religious educator, particularly with children or young people,
  • a commitment to the field of religious education,
  • leadership potential in the area of religious education,
  • recognized ability and academic standing,
  • financial need.

Graduate degrees through the joint CCS diploma/degree programs at St. Stephen's College or The Faculty of Theology at the University of Winnipeg will be considered eligible for this scholarship.
