Reflection Year

Many students require 5 or 6 years to complete the diploma program, often because these students have other obligations such as work or family that limit them to part time study.

Our reflection students have taken a year to work on external courses and reflect with CCS staff either prior to entering the theme years or before the integrating year. The opportunity for students to use this structured reflection time for integration of external courses is important and consistent with the methodology of the program.

The requirements for the reflection year are negotiated with each student, but in general require written reflections to be shared with staff and possibly a learning partner. Some students are also focussing on areas identified in their previous assessments for further work. The primary staff role for these students is shared among the program staff and principal.
